Been using and loving it. Only real complaint so far is that you can't edit the details of stations you save from shoutcast. No big deal though, great app.

Oh and it would be nice if it integrated with active standby like the music player.

I last used this when it was way pre-alpha on my N91... looks mature, but I can't get Groove Salad from SomaFM to tune in...

Working for me, where are you launching it from? And yeah the old version kinda blew...

Try tuning in from shoutcast. That's where I saved it from and it works fine.

    shoutcast via mobile or computer?

  • zacharye

Mobile - just bring it up in the s60 browser and hit the tune in button once you find it.

No prob man :) I can't take credit though as one of my readers asked me to check out shoutcast in the comments on my post. I never would have assumed it would work!

pretty cool it automatically becomes the app to handle streaming on install - not that there were other choices, but I don't recall that previously. Been a year or so though ... Love the option of streaming - been missing that on the N95 and using the Tablet tethered.

Yeah I've been using lcg jukebox but this is better imo - especially with the fact that it can snag streams from the browser! I also like that you can easily set different rates for each connection type...

the .pls extension is registered to the app, which will also be integrated officially into S60 soon. rtsp streaming (.ram) is still handled by the realplayer though, but anyway the Internet Radio app doesn't support rtsp

just blogged about it on S60 MM btw :)

yeah - caught that in the prefs ... even GPRS can stream which is nice and something I did way back on the Treo in pocket tunes. The Tablet can stream on EDGE / DUN as well in media player which seems to be the "lightest" app. Rhapsody seems to want more bandwidth

the new internet radio app is so awesome !! although "standard quality" is the only setting that works smoothest for me ..even over my wi-fi to wi-max broadband connection :)

@zacharye - that "reader" would have been me. you're welcome.. ;-) however, i still have this strange interference with the web-browser: 1. (while internet radio is closed:) go to shoutcast and open a channel ("tune in") 2. internet radio opens correctly. play the channel 3. then, i want to go back to the browser using task manager > it won't work! when selecting the browser task, i strangely get back to the internet radio again and again, and have no way to get to the browser other than closing internet radio. 4. after closing internet radio to go back to the browser, .pls links wont work anymore until i restart the browser. i run V.20.0.015 FW

zach, i know, you tested it, and didn't observe this effect on your N95.... maybe it's something else on my N95 that causes that.. hmm.. can someone else pls. test this?

  • zacharye

Hey @afr :) - Ooooookay, I misunderstood you the first time. With net radio streaming I see the same thing as you - can't access the browser again until I kill net radio.

    Time to do some playing...

7 months, 3 weeks ago by zacharye.

  • zacharye

ok, done playing. PLS links from the browser seem to open up a sort of "browser plug-in" rather than the full net radio app. Kill the browser, kill net radio.

If you open net radio and start streaming from its UI, you can then open the browser and use it normally.

  • afr

hmm... ok, thanks for testing and confirming the bug.. :-) the good thing is, one usually only needs to catch a new pls links from the browser once, and then save it to the favourites of the radio, of course. but it's a strange behaviour anyway... (hear, nokia? ;-)

  • zacharye

Strange indeed @afr! I have some more feedback for Nokia on the app that I'll be sending them soon so rest assured this will be included. :)
