Both VMWare and Parallels refuse to see the Zune in software though it's there and I can see it as a device on my system... very annoying

You have a Zune? You like it? What made you pick the Zune over other optons? Just curious, never actually seen one in person.

yeah - been using the 8GB flash model ... it's quite nice actually. I did not buy the device, but signed up for the subscription which is the killer part... $15/mo unlimited access to anything

the player is surprisingly good. I've been tainted by my all mac usage, but seriously it's well worth checking out

MP3 or MS drm? I'm guessing the latter.

there's a mix... they are going more mp3 and losing drm as well where possible just like everyone else

did you install vmware tools? are all the usb ports active in vmware?

I can see that it's connected actually which is the frustrating part... I can't use it though and it's not showing as a device in the Zune software ... but VMWare says it's connected over USB.

Hm...guess there's not that many mac users who use a Zune?

    Try this: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1922/reregisterwmdmifzunesoftwarecannotdetect_zune

@edythemighty for sure there are not ... without a desktop app native to the os, it's a hard sell. @rsuplido I just tried that, saw a success note after running the command and reconnected ... same deal.

The Zune app does not launch on connect from the device either which tells me something is up. Parallels did not work earlier today which is why I've tried this. Feeling like I've wasted quite a few hours waiting for Windows to install and update just to get here.

This post on a Zune enthusiast site seems to indicate that it should work. Maybe it's a hardware/cable issue? http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/showthread.php?t=23747
