Agree with @CAW. It's the
same reason you barely get anything with an iPod anymore...no
cradle, no slip case (most of the time), just the bare minimum.
"What would you say about someone who only does the bare
minimum?"
yeah - seems like BS. Was just scoping an XBOX and see I need to
buy more to even play out of the box with another person. PS3 and
Wii are the same actually - forgot I purchased a second controller
for the Wii ... not too mention the classic controller for the
older games
"You know what, Stan, if you want me to wear 37 pieces of flair,
like your pretty boy over there, Brian, why don't you just make the
minimum 37 pieces of flair?"
I think not including more accessories when you buy a product is
a good thing. Keeps the entry price low, and lets people
accessorize more to their liking than including accessories that
they might not want.
@krazykritter: Yeah,
we bought Wii Play for the controller, too, but I think you're
better off just getting the controller. All the Wii Play games are
crap. :P Played it maybe twice and never touched it again.

My guess: mostly because they want to keep the SKU cost as low as possible. Ultimately, consumers are cheap.

Accessories is the part that brings money, to any kind of electronic gadget from camera to puters.

If you want me to wear more than 15 pieces of flair, you should specify that you want more!

At least with the Wii, it came with a game, and you could switch off with one controller. Not so with Xbox 360 or PS3. :P Or PS2, even.

If you buy wii buy wii play, include controller and games for only 10 more than controller alone. Nunkuck also sold seperately :-(

My first nintendo came with 2 controllers, gun, exercise mat and a triple game pak. $250 I think it was.
