u have to have a use for it. Personally, I leave some emails as unread in my inbox, until I process them (reply, check the link, do what I'm asked...). It starts to get messy at times, so I now have a small inbox, on top of my regular one, displaying these: "is:unread and is:inbox". Useful for my habits.
I've just switched this on for my personal account and set it so all the additional inboxes turn up below the main inbox. That solved the overlapping inbox problem for me.
yes jonathan, setting it on the left or right is a total mess, i agree, but on the top or bottom (according to priority) is a neat way to get things done quicker.

thought it would be cool with my starred items, but the layout is way too crazy

If you go to Settings you can choose where the extra Inboxes will appear. That helps a little.

I like the idea, but on a smaller screen the boxes are totally overlapping which makes it impossible to consider using.
